The keypad and the board behind it exchange messages whenever a cycle is set up, and this code is raised when that exchange stops making sense - either a key is reporting itself pressed and will not release, or the control has stopped hearing the panel at all. KitchenAid does not separate those two, which is why it names the wiring in the same breath as the part.

Let the cavity cool with the door closed before you do anything. An oven that has just been cooking holds enough heat to burn through a cloth, and a self-clean cycle leaves it far hotter than that. With the oven cold and off at the breaker, wipe the touch panel with a barely damp cloth and dry it - grease and condensation sitting on a membrane will hold a key down, and that is the one cause of 1c1c you can reach without opening anything. Then power the oven down by switching off its circuit breakers for one minute, power it back up, watch it for one minute to be sure the code does not return, and verify the oven operates.

- A wall oven is bolted into a cabinet opening and carries its weight on that frame, so sliding one out to reach the back of the panel is not a check an owner makes with a screwdriver and a free afternoon.
- When the published text names a component and its wiring together, the wiring is at least as likely as the part, and only a continuity check settles which.
- The control this panel talks to is what decides when the elements are allowed to run, so a panel or loom reseated wrongly can leave heat available when the display says the oven is off.
