What White Blinking Lights Means

If the controls are solid white and the Start button is blinking and the oven is not starting, KitchenAid says this usually means Start was pressed too soon, before it was illuminated. If the Start button blinks during a cooking cycle, that indicates the temperature was modified and you should press Start to confirm the change. If the temperature was raised during a cycle the oven blinks white until the new temperature is reached, which it calls normal operation. And it describes a fault-reporting mode: if the Wi-Fi and Remote LEDs are flashing this could indicate an error code, with the eight LEDs of the back-lit mode selector knob flashing to display the code - its own example is that for F5E3 the Wi-Fi indicator is on and the knob LEDs flash five times for F5, then the remote indicator is on and the LEDs flash three times for E3. KitchenAid documents this code in two places under its commercial-style range material - once in that range's own product-help section and once under the error-code pages of the general Ranges section - and the two copies do not carry the same text. Both are given here and neither is treated as the correct one, because nothing on either page marks the other as superseded. What settles it is a technician reading the code from the appliance itself, or the code as the connected mobile app reports it.

Let the oven cavity and the cooktop cool first, and on a gas model make sure every burner knob is at off. A commercial-style range holds a great deal of heat in its cast grates and its cavity, and nothing below is worth touching until it has gone. Work out which of the published cases you are in before doing anything. If you just changed the temperature, press Start to confirm it. If you just pressed Start early, wait for the button to illuminate and press it then. If the Wi-Fi and Remote LEDs are flashing, count the knob LED flashes in the sequence KitchenAid describes - the Wi-Fi indicator marks the F number and the remote indicator marks the E number - and write the resulting code down. KitchenAid also lists Sabbath mode as a cause of a solid Start button, which you can test by opening the door and seeing whether the light comes on.

- If the LEDs are flashing a code, the count matters more here than almost anywhere else - one extra flash names a different fault entirely.
- A commercial-style range is heavy, sits on its own feet and on most models is fed by a gas line behind it; moving one to reach a connection means the gas shut off first and the connection tested afterwards, which is not an owner step.
