What Demo Mode Means
Freestanding and slide-in Range: Demo Mode is a feature and KitchenAid marks its page with an important note: the feature is intended for use on the sales floor with a 120 V power connection and permits the control features to be demonstrated without the oven turning on, and if the feature is activated, the oven will not work. That is unusually blunt for these pages and it is the sentence that matters - a range in demo mode accepts settings and lights its display while never heating. KitchenAid also carries a second line on the page naming the user interface or keypad and the associated wiring, but the demo explanation is the one with the owner procedure attached.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check demo mode before concluding anything has failed. KitchenAid's published route on this family is through the control: press SETTINGS or CLOCK until DEMO MODE is displayed, at which point the current setting shows, press the 1 keypad to change it, and press START or CANCEL to exit and return to the time of day. On models with a Tools keypad the route runs through Tools and Explore instead. Nothing needs resetting at the breaker afterwards.

- Nothing has failed, so a service visit for demo mode is a visit spent changing a setting.
- A range in demo mode looks completely alive while the oven never heats, which is worth establishing before anyone concludes elements or boards have failed and starts replacing them.
- Food left in an oven that is in demo mode will not cook at all, and that is worth knowing before a meal depends on it.
