What F1 E1 Means

The appliance manager is the board that runs the oven itself, as distinct from the panel you press: it holds the cycle, decides which elements are energized and enforces the limits. A fault logged against it means that board failed one of its own checks, and an oven with an unreliable manager is one whose heating decisions cannot be relied on. KitchenAid adds a note to the pages in this family that is worth knowing: the error code may display in F# E# format or in E# F# format, so the same fault can appear with the two halves swapped.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the cavity cool with the door closed before you do anything. An oven that has just been cooking holds enough heat to burn through a cloth, and a self-clean cycle leaves it far hotter than that. Do the published reset from the breaker panel rather than looking for a plug behind a built-in appliance: power the oven down by switching off its circuit breakers for one minute, power it back up, watch it for one minute to be sure the code does not return, and verify the oven operates. If F1 E1 returns, leave the oven switched off at the breaker until it is seen, and note whether it came back immediately on power-up or only once a cycle was started.

- This board decides when the heating elements are energized, so a board disturbed or reseated badly can leave heat available when the display shows the oven off.
