What F6 E1 Means
Built-In Microwave, including the microwave-oven combination: KitchenAid publishes for F6 E1 "There may be a problem with the Main Oven Temperature Sensor, the Oven Appliance Manager, or the associated wiring." The main oven temperature sensor is the probe the conventional cavity heats against. When the manager reading it gets a number outside the range a real oven can produce, it stops the cycle rather than heat towards a target it cannot verify. KitchenAid adds one more line on this page and it is worth repeating exactly as it stands: "There are a variety of different reasons this may be happening." That is the manufacturer saying the code does not narrow things down as far as the component names suggest.
Common Causes of F6 E1
- A main cavity temperature probe drifted or failed
- Probe wiring damaged or unseated at a connector
- An oven appliance manager no longer reading the channel correctly
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the appliance cool and keep the door shut, then cut power at the breaker rather than reaching behind a built-in cabinet for a plug: power the unit down by switching off the circuit breakers for one minute, power it back up, watch the oven for one minute to see whether the code returns, and verify the oven operates.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Separating a failed probe from a manager that misreads it takes a resistance measurement on a dead appliance, and the two produce exactly the same code.
- Everything in this appliance beyond the door and the control panel sits alongside a capacitor that stays charged after the plug is pulled, which is why the published owner procedure stops at the breaker.
- A part swapped without a measurement is a part that may well come out again, and the labour is charged either way.
