What F6 E0 Means
Built-In Microwave, including the microwave-oven combination: KitchenAid publishes for F6 E0 "There may be a problem with the Main Oven Temperature Sensor, the Oven Appliance Manager, or the associated wiring." Two things are named: the probe that measures the main cavity, and the appliance manager that reads it. A value that cannot be a real temperature will raise this whichever end produced it, and the control has no way to tell from inside which end that was.
Common Causes of F6 E0
- A main cavity temperature probe drifted or failed
- Probe wiring damaged or unseated at a connector
- An oven appliance manager no longer reading the channel correctly
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the appliance cool and keep the door shut, then cut power at the breaker rather than reaching behind a built-in cabinet for a plug: power the unit down by switching off the circuit breakers for one minute, power it back up, watch the oven for one minute to see whether the code returns, and verify the oven operates.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Separating a failed probe from a manager that misreads it takes a resistance measurement on a dead appliance, and the two produce exactly the same code.
- A microwave stores energy in its high-voltage capacitor, and that charge does not drain when the power goes off; opening the outer case is therefore dangerous even on a unit that has been disconnected for hours.
- When the published text names a component and its wiring in the same breath, the wiring is at least as likely as the part, and only a continuity check settles which.
