What F5 E5 Means

KitchenAid gives no symptom against this code and no threshold, only the components and a reset, so what you observe at the door is genuinely useful information to pass on.
Common Causes of F5 E5
- A main oven latch assembly that has failed to reach its position
- A door switch that is misaligned or no longer reporting
- Latch wiring damaged, loose or intermittent at a connector
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the appliance cool and keep the door shut, then cut power at the breaker rather than reaching behind a built-in cabinet for a plug: power the unit down by switching off the circuit breakers for one minute, power it back up, watch the oven for one minute to see whether the code returns, and verify the oven operates.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A cavity that has locked itself while hot stays dangerous for a long time after the display goes quiet, and prising at the door is a burn injury rather than a shortcut.
- The high-voltage capacitor inside a microwave can hold a lethal charge after the unit is unplugged and the display is dead, so the inside of the cabinet is not an owner check at any point in this process, whatever the code turns out to mean.
- KitchenAid names more than one possible culprit in the same sentence, so buying whichever part is cheapest to find is a coin toss rather than a repair.
