Let the glass cool first. A radiant or induction surface stays hot enough to burn well after the heat is off, which is why these cooktops carry a residual-heat indicator at all. With every control off, clear the control area and clean the touch panel properly, since a permanently pressed key is what KitchenAid names first. On an induction cooktop, check the pan itself: a magnet should stick to its base, it should be large enough for the zone, and it should sit centred. Switch the area off and on again afterwards. If the indicator light continues to flash, disconnect power by turning off the circuit breakers, reconnect after one minute and verify the cooktop operates.
