What F0E1 Means
Induction Cooktop: F0E1 is a cookware page rather than a fault page. Induction works by inducing current in the pan itself, so the pan has to be ferromagnetic for anything to happen. KitchenAid lists what works - enamelled steel, cast iron, and stainless steel designed for induction cooking - and what does not: ordinary stainless steel, glass, ceramic, copper and aluminium. It adds that a magnet can be used to check, that the stated base diameter often does not match the actual ferromagnetic area, and that pans with only part of the base in ferromagnetic material heat unevenly or may not be recognised at all. To clear the code it says to press the On/Off button twice, then try the cookware on a different zone or use different cookware.
Common Causes of F0E1
- A pan made of a non-ferromagnetic material such as glass, ceramic, copper or aluminium
- A pan whose ferromagnetic area is smaller than its stated base diameter
- A pan too small for the zone, or not centred on it
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Take a fridge magnet to the base of the pan. If it does not grip firmly, the pan will not work on induction, whatever the label says. Check the size too: use the cooking zone that matches the base diameter, centre the pan on it, and avoid pans that overhang the zone. Press On/Off twice to clear F0E1 and restore the zone, then try the same pan on another zone or a different pan on the same one - that comparison tells you in a minute whether the problem is the cookware or the cooktop.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Nothing has failed in the ordinary case, and a service visit for a pan that will not work on induction is a visit spent confirming what a magnet would have told you.
- If a known-good induction pan is not recognised on one particular zone but works on the others, the coil or its detection is the question, and that lives under the glass.
- Pans that only partly grip a magnet heat unevenly and can leave a hot ring under a cool centre, which is worth knowing before blaming the cooktop for poor performance.
