The KCES550HSS is KitchenAid’s current 30″ radiant electric cooktop, built around a double-ring Even-Heat Ultra Power element that can run as a small 6″ burner or expand to a full 10″ ring for larger cookware. Because that element has two independently switched coils under one glass zone, a fault is often isolated to just the outer ring rather than the whole element failing.
