What Power Level Lower Than Level Requested Means

Induction Cooktop: this is a configuration page, not a fault page. KitchenAid explains that the power regulator limits the power levels in accordance with the maximum value set for the cooktop as a whole, and that the cooktop automatically sets a minimum power level so a cooking zone can still be used. Its note is explicit: depending on the power selected for the cooktop, some zone power levels and functions - it names boil and quick reheating - could be automatically limited to prevent the selected limit being exceeded. In other words, the cooktop has a total power budget that somebody set, and a zone asking for more than the budget allows gets less.

Common Causes of Power Level Lower Than Level Requested

  • A total cooktop power limit set lower than the zones together are asking for
  • A function such as boil or quick reheating being limited to stay inside that budget
  • The cooktop holding a minimum level on a zone so it remains usable

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

The setting is made in a short window after power-up. Once the cooktop is connected to the mains you have sixty seconds to set the power level: press the timer plus button for at least five seconds until the display shows PL, press OK until the last selected power level appears, choose the level you want with the plus and minus buttons, and confirm with OK. The chosen level is remembered even through a power interruption, so to change it later you turn the wall breaker to the cooktop off for at least sixty seconds, turn it back on and repeat the sequence from the moment power returns.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Nothing here is broken, and a service visit for a deliberately configured power limit is a visit spent changing a setting.
  • The limit exists to keep the cooktop inside the supply it was configured for, so raising it without knowing what the circuit was sized for asks more of the household wiring than it was set up to give.
  • If the levels are limited with the power setting already at maximum, the limiting is not coming from the configuration, and that is a question for a technician.

FAQ

Power Level Lower Than Level Requested FAQ

The cooktop has an overall power limit set in its configuration, and the regulator holds individual zones and functions inside it so the total is never exceeded.

Turn the wall breaker off for at least sixty seconds, switch it back on and then, within the first minute, hold the timer plus button for five seconds until PL appears, press OK, select the level with plus and minus, and confirm with OK.
