What Sabbath Mode Means

It adds that when the oven door is opened or closed, or the light switch is actuated, the oven light will not turn on or off and the heating elements will not turn on or off immediately. It also notes that the control may display Sabbath, Sab, 5A6 or 5Ab.

- The mode enabled from the control menu without it being obvious afterwards
- An expectation of normal tones and displays from an oven that is deliberately suppressing them

If the oven is behaving strangely quietly - baking but silent, with no temperature changes shown and a light that does not respond to the door - check whether Sabbath Mode is set before assuming anything is wrong. Turning it off is done through the control the way your model's manual describes. Nothing needs resetting at the breaker, and the delayed response of the light and the elements while the mode is active is documented behaviour rather than a fault.

- Nothing is failing, and the muted behaviour that prompts most calls about this mode is exactly what the mode is for.
- Only Bake operates while the mode is set, so a cleaning or specialist cycle that refuses to start is the feature working rather than a fault.
- An oven that stays on in a bake setting until it is turned off is one to be deliberate about, since the usual shutoff behaviour is among the things suspended.
